General information
| Description | UM-HMC-3B is a human mucoepidermoid carcinoma cell line established from a primary mucoepidermoid carcinoma of the hard palate salivary glands of a 73-year-old Caucasian female patient. The line is is part of the University of Michigan Human Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma (UM-HMC) panel. Like UM-HMC-1, UM-HMC-3B harbors the CRTC1-MAML2 gene fusion (MECT1-MAML2), the oncogenic driver in the majority of mucoepidermoid carcinomas, which results from a t(11;19)(q21;p13) translocation and drives CREB and Notch pathway activation. UM-HMC-3B is applicable in studies of hard palate and salivary gland mucoepidermoid carcinoma biology, CRTC1-MAML2 signalling, and comparative analyses with other UM-HMC panel lines. Together with UM-HMC-1 and other panel members, UM-HMC-3B enables identification of common and divergent molecular features across mucoepidermoid carcinomas of different anatomical sites, ages, and genders. It is also suitable for drug sensitivity assays targeting fusion oncoproteins and downstream CREB/Notch effectors. |

| Shipping Conditions | Cryopreserved cell lines are shipped on dry ice in validated, insulated packaging with sufficient refrigerant to maintain approximately −78 °C throughout transit. On receipt, inspect the container immediately and transfer vials without delay to appropriate storage. |
| Storage Conditions | For long-term preservation, place vials in vapor-phase liquid nitrogen at about −150 to −196 °C. Storage at −80 °C is acceptable only as a short interim step before transfer to liquid nitrogen. |
Quality Control & Molecular Analysis
| Sterility | Mycoplasma contamination is excluded using both PCR-based assays and luminescence-based mycoplasma detection methods. To ensure there is no bacterial, fungal, or yeast contamination, cell cultures are subjected to daily visual inspections. |
